Whale watching, wildlife and glacier viewing

Spend two or more days . . . . . . of great wildlife watching and glacier viewing, with the freedom to fine-tune your options according to your preferences and budget. You will be treated to the best of the whale watching, wildlife and glacier tours, with excellent chances for encountering humpback whales, orcas, Dall's porpoises, Steller's sea lions (photo below), harbor seals, and of course, the ubiquitous sea otters and bald eagles.
	Depending on season and location, we could also see mountain goats, Sitka black-tailed deer, black bears, and possibly brown bears. We are also likely to see a variety of marine birds, including puffins, auklets, guillemots, murres, murrelets, cormorants, loons, grebes gulls, kittiwakes, terns, and a variety of sea ducks.

Tour Prices and Fuel Cost

Tour prices listed below assume a price of $3.60/gal for unleaded gas (boat fuel) at the Whittier fuel dock. A fuel surcharge (or discount) based on the actual fuel price on the date of your tour will be applied to these prices. Unleaded gas at the fuel dock was $3.60/gal in November, 2009.

Itinerary	Rates
Option 1 (4-6 passengers): Spend full days exploring the Sound's many wildlife, glacier and scenic wonders, then relax evenings in the comfort of Port Ashton Lodge, where a variety of lodging and meal options are available. Think of this option as a combination of the best of our Whale Watching Plus Icy Bay tour, plus any of our other day tours that you choose, taken at a leisurely pace over a period of two or more days.	The minimum base rate is $264 per person per day, with a 4-person minimum -- 10% less for a party of 6. This rate is for a two-day tour that includes our "Whale Watching Plus Icy Bay" and "Blackstone Bay Plus Wildlife" tours, including lunch on the first day. If you prefer different tours, and if you want to be out for more than two days, your rate will be adjusted accordingly. Add $6 each Whittier tax. Lodging and meals for your stay at Port Ashton Lodge are extra, which you arrange through the lodge.
Option 2 (limit 2-3 passengers): The more adventurous may prefer to stay aboard the boat the entire time, anchoring nights in some scenic wilderness cove. This option allows the flexibility to tailor an excursion to your particular interests, but without the constraint of needing to be at any particular location in the evening. Bench seats in the boat's heated cabin convert to either a dinette for eating meals or a narrow double bunk that may be enclosed with a privacy curtain. You help plan simple but hearty meals.	$1,100 per day and up, depending on party size, itinerary and food preferences. Add $6 each Whittier tax.
Option 3 (limit 2-3 passengers): Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival . . . The itinerary in Option 2 above may be scheduled to include transportation from Whittier to the May festival dates, 2010 Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival in and near Cordova in the SE corner of the Sound. The festival is a world-class event for serious birders. Early season ice will prevent visits to some of the glaciers.	$900 per day and up, depending on party size, itinerary and food preferences. Add $6 each Whittier tax.

Other Possibilities

Tent camping on the beach at our anchorages, and/or reserving one or more Chugach National Forest public use cabins along our route are other options. Sorry, as a commercial entity, we cannot reserve these public use cabins for you.

A 50% deposit will confirm your reservation (see the Reservations Page for details), with the balance due prior to sailing.
If applicable, lodging and meal fees for Port Ashton Lodge, are extra, and must be arranged through the lodge.
