Prince William Sound Killer Whale Gallery / kw03

A male killer whale. The straight (not curved) dorsal fin of mature males can reach 6' in length. The dorsal fin of older males is sometimes wavy or bent to vaying degrees, from the slight amount in this animal, to extreme cases where the fin is totally colapsed. Biologists do not know why.
